For many of our clients, the struggles of isolation and the complexities of modern society mean that they continue to be faced with challenges in adjusting to an active life in the local community, overcoming loneliness and preventing the possibility of debilitating physical and psychological effects. By leaving a gift in your Will, you will be investing in and helping to transform the lives of our ageing multicultural community for years to come. A Will is a written statement setting out your wishes regarding the distribution of your property, money and possessions after your death and can also incorporate your requests for your funeral arrangements and who is to benefit from your estate. The total of what you leave behind after you pass, including gifts to charitable organisations, can all be outlined in your Will. Making a Will sets your mind at rest that you have taken care of your affairs and that your intentions for your estate are clear. A Will helps remove any burden of decision making from your family and loved ones, especially during a time of mourning and grief. First Steps Making a Will is something some people find confronting and difficult to do. If you haven’t already made a Will, the best time to do it is now. Making a Will is probably one of the least expensive personal financial services of all. By having a proper Will drawn up, you will protect your family and your intentions from possible court cases which can prove lengthy and costly. If you pass away without leaving a Will, you are said to pass “intestate” and the government of the State in which you lived decides how your money and possessions should be divided. This can often cause much loss and heartache for family and friends, and may mean real hardship and unnecessary expense. Choose your gift It is important to seek the advice of a legal practitioner when making or updating your Will. We would always recommend taking care of your family and friends first. After ensuring your loved ones are cared for, please consider leaving a gift to CNA-Italian Australian Services as a lasting legacy. We appreciate everyone’s support and generosity, no matter the size – or way – in which we receive it. As a guide, you can arrange your gift in one of four ways: A percentage of the total value of your estate The residue of your estate after taking care of all your other beneficiaries A specified amount of money Proceeds from the sale of certain assets such as life insurance policy, real estate or shares The following wording is a guide only and is subject to your legal practitioner’s professional advice: “I give to CNA-Italian Australian Services and Welfare Centre Inc. (ABN 54 667 826 341) of 1 Coolatai Crescent, Bossley Park NSW 2176 for its general purposes: ___ % of my estate or the residue of my estate or the sum of $____ or specified items (eg. Life insurance policy number, possessions, land, etc) free of all debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, duties and taxes. I direct that a receipt from the Treasurer or other public officer for the time being of the said organization shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees.” Please Let us know Informing us of your decision to leave a bequest or that you have already done so, allows us to thank you in person and also notify your family after you have passed on about how we have utilised the funds and what effect they have had on the important support we provide at CNA-Italian Australian Services and Welfare Centre Inc.
