Studying Italian for the HSC in 2025
Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney is committed to the external provision of quality teaching and learning of Italian to assist students enrolled in day schools in Sydney’s West and South West to enrol in the Stage 6 Italian Beginners course for their Higher School Certificate (HSC).
An external provider is any organisation that a secondary high school (public, Catholic or Independent) has entered into an arrangement with to deliver a specified course of study that is part of the curriculum to a student or students enrolled at the school. See the NESA website for more information about external providers of Stage 6 HSC Courses.
School Principals may give approval for a student to study additional course(s) with an external provider, including Italian Beginners as a NESA course for the HSC. This typically occurs because a student cannot access the course at their weekday school. It is the school’s decision whether to use external providers.
Parents intending to engage Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney as an external provider for Italian Beginners must first liaise with their child’s school. The registered school needs to ensure that the courses outsourced comprise a minority of each student’s overall pattern of study for each Stage of learning (except with approval from NESA).
