A Safe Space to Talk, Be Heard and Find Support
Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported.
HER Space is a community initiative delivered by CNA Multicultural Services Inc. to support women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds who may be experiencing stress, loneliness, family difficulties, domestic and family violence, or other personal challenges. Based in Bossley Park, NSW, HER Space provides a welcoming, culturally sensitive environment where women can talk openly, receive emotional support and find information about services available to help them.
Our message is simple: You are not alone. We are here to listen.
What Does HER Space Offer?
HER Space provides practical and emotional support through:
- One-on-One Listening Sessions: A welcoming space where women can share their concerns with trained, culturally aware peer listeners and support workers.
- Emotional Support: A compassionate listening ear for women experiencing stress, anxiety, isolation or difficult personal circumstances.
- Multilingual Assistance: Language and interpreter support to help women communicate comfortably and understand their options.
- Family and Domestic Violence Support: Sensitive early assistance and connections to specialist services for women experiencing unsafe or difficult family situations.
- Referrals to Essential Services: Help connecting with housing, legal assistance, mental health services and other community support organisations.
- Community Connections: Opportunities to build confidence, reduce isolation and feel more connected to the local community.
A Welcoming and Culturally Safe Environment
We understand that asking for help can be difficult, particularly when language barriers, cultural expectations or unfamiliarity with Australian services make it harder to speak about personal concerns. HER Space aims to remove these barriers by offering a respectful, supportive and culturally appropriate environment. Women can access the listening service without needing a formal referral. Sessions are designed around individual needs, with an emphasis on dignity, privacy and personal choice.
Who Can Access HER Space?
HER Space is designed for women from multicultural communities, particularly those living in the Fairfield area and surrounding suburbs.
The initiative welcomes women who:
- Feel lonely, overwhelmed or socially isolated.
- Are experiencing family or relationship difficulties.
- Need someone to listen without judgement.
- Are concerned about their safety or wellbeing.
- Face language or cultural barriers when seeking help.
- Need assistance finding appropriate community services.
You do not need to be experiencing a crisis to ask for support. Referral is quick and easy using the referral form.
How Does It Work?
HER Space offers individual listening sessions of approximately 20–60 minutes, depending on personal needs. During a session, a trained peer listener or support worker will take time to understand your concerns, provide emotional support and, where appropriate, help you connect with specialist services. The initiative focuses on early support, helping women seek assistance before difficulties become more serious.
Building Stronger Communities
HER Space is more than a listening service. It is an initiative designed to strengthen trust, improve access to essential services and help multicultural women feel supported within their community.
Through culturally responsive assistance, multilingual outreach and partnerships with local service providers, CNA Multicultural Services Inc. aims to make support more accessible to women who might otherwise face barriers to receiving help.
